EDC Literary Showcase Spring 2009 | Volume 12 | Issue 669
Tessa Dennison, an early-thirties finance professional, resolves to define love on her own terms after a series of busted blind dates.
Justin Martin, her best friend, has secretly loved Tessa since childhood. However, risking their friendship and their differing ethnic backgrounds holds him back. But it's now or never when she convinces him to screen Internet bachelors for a love match.
Will Justin continue to let societal forces dictate his happiness or will he opt for full disclosure before Tessa finds a cyber match? Is Justin too firmly planted in the 'friend zone' to advance into Tessa's dating portfolio? [ Read More ]

Submission Guidelines for EDC Creations Magazine
The EDC Creations eMagazine is a online, weekly updated magazine which gives voice to the issues that drive our national conversation. Our readership is thoughtful, intelligent, widely read and appreciative of ideas and writing of the highest quality. With that in mind, we seek thoughtful, well- researched articles and insightful fiction, book reviews and poetry on a variety of subjects from a number of different viewpoints. Although we take ourselves seriously, we appreciate humor as well. We do not pay our writers, but we have a open-door policy designed to encourage and facilitate new writers to share their work with our international audience. It is very important for you to become familiar with the “voice” and scope of our magazine before submitting your work. Explore the many pages and published work before submitting to us.
We welcome unpublished and first time writers. The essays, fiction, and reporting in the magazine's pages come from promising new voices as well as some of the most distinguished names in today's literature. We seek well written and properly edited material on these subjects: relationships, career, health and beauty, spirituality, fitness, parenting, marriage, finances, and community revitalization projects. This information, while broad-based, is offered from a non-partisan perspective. We select articles that will appeal to a global audience. These articles must be uplifting, informative and pertinent to modern readers. You do not need to query us. Complete articles are preferred over story pitches. Submit your material for review with the information listed below.
Excerpts from books that can stand alone are considered. There is a fee of $99.00 to publish book excerpts on the site. Obtain the rights from your publisher to share these excerpts BEFORE you submit them to us.
All copyright and copy right infringement responsibilities remains with the author. Any reprint requests we receive will be directed to the author if a contact address has been provided for this purpose. The copyright you designate will accompany all text online. Publication on our site offers contributors international exposure and we are always happy to add a link to the website of your choice along with author contact information.
We welcome your interest and provide the following submission guidelines.
EDC Creations does not accept previously published work under any circumstance. Please inform us immediately if your submission is accepted elsewhere. We don't offer any form of payment to writers. Also, we do not accept submissions by direct mail.
Email all submissions to this address only: edc_dg@yahoo.com. With this subject line: Submission Request for EDC Creations Magazine. All material submitted without following these instructions will be deleted immediately.
1. Provide a professionally written cover letter introducing yourself and your material via email. Provide a valid email address, website address and cell phone number for the writer/author.
2. All submissions must be submitted in MS Word only, the older version, unformatted. Use Times New Roman font, 12pt font size, black text, no tables, no borders and no designs.
3. Keep the titles simple! Run spell and grammar checks. Edit your submission properly; poorly edited work will be deleted. No excuses.
All accepted articles will be accompanied by the byline and the biography specified by the author. Author bios should be one to three lines of type (approximately 50 words no more). A contact email and / or URL will be included if provided and deemed appropriate. We reserve the right to refuse URLs that link to sites that are in conflict with the mandate of the magazine. We will not link to MySpace accounts or social network sites.
Quality over quantity -- unless specified otherwise, we generally do not publish pieces over 2,000 words. Articles and short stories should range 800 to 1200 words (approx) and be in a format suitable for Internet readers. Paragraphs are usually shorter than those in a print article and must not contain more than one idea. Simply submitting the same article as written for print is not effective. All articles in the proper format will always be given precedence over those that will need re-editing. If the article is sent back for editing, you will have to get back in line!
Those interested in writing for our EDC Magazine on a regular basis as a staff columnist must query first, and include a brief bio/resume and sample article. If accepted, the writer will be expected to contribute articles/columns on a regular basis. We are NOT offering paid jobs for writers at this time.
Fiction: We are receptive to high-quality literary fiction of all sorts, including traditional and experimental works. Genre fiction (such as erotica, paranormal, dramas, crime thrillers, street lit, science fiction, horror, mystery, and romance) is encouraged as long as it crosses or comments upon its genre and is both character-driven and psychologically acute. We are also interested in works that do not readily fall into one specific category. Please do not send more than one (1) piece of fiction at a time. There is no need to query prior to submitting fiction. Email your articles to the editor for review. You will be notified via email one time, if material will be used.
Non-fiction: Our main objective is to be truly helpful, to provide information that empowers our readers to make changes, and supports them in being their own experts. We like articles that have a strong point of view and come from the heart, that are challenging or evocative. We also take pride in publishing well-researched, extensively documented articles. When submitting non-fiction, please use only the most updated research, from primary sources. Our choice of articles depends on the other material we have published on the subject, how new the topic is to us, and how unique the presentation is. It helps if you include photos and any references for quotes used in the article. If you use outside sources, there must be footnotes giving credit to the original source. EDC Creations is not responsible for checking the facts. All rights are maintained by the author who submits the story or article. Tell the truth at all times. Check out dates, names and facts BEFORE submitting to EDC Creations.
Please Note: Please do not follow up your submission with enquiries about if or when it will be posted. Reviewing takes approximately four to six weeks. You will be contacted ONLY if your work has been accepted. We cannot respond to phone enquiries. You will receive a Yahoo auto-response if your email has gone through correctly. We will not answer enquiries into how soon your article will be posted.
All work (except poetry) is subject to editing for space, grammar, and format considerations. If edits do not affect content, we will NOT notify the author in advance. Due to normal production factors, we cannot guarantee publication of any article, even if scheduled for inclusion.
We reserve the right to reject previously accepted work at any time and for any reason.
EDC Creations reserves the right to publish all material submitted on any site in the EDC Creations network without notice. Your articles will not be sold to other publications nor submitted to agencies for compensation.
Your submission to EDC Creations validates that you agree with all of the terms listed above and give us permission to display your work, interviews and links. Submit all material to the following email address only: edc_dg@yahoo.com.
